How Sweet it is!!!!

YES! I am so happy. I know that they will start pickin' on him tomorrow, but just let me be happy today!

At the same time, I'm plenty pissed at California and Florida for voting against giving gay people the same civil rights as they themselves have.

But I was born and reared in the deep south. I drank out of water fountains that said, "Whites only." And it was against the law to be gay. AGAINST THE LAW! Gay men were put in jail for being gay! (I never heard of lesbians being jailed, but that's because if there's no dick involved, it's not sex, right?)

So I do not lose hope. I will not lose hope.

Today I am happy.

I am thrilled this morning too.

I am a bit in awe that CA and FL voted against the gay marriage. It is a shame.

You always seem to say it all so succinctly. I am appalled at the stripping of the rights of ordinary people by the passing of Prop 8 here in CA. Judge not lest ye be judged.

I am looking forward to a new era in American history with President Obama at the helm.

I'm so thrilled WE DID IT!
But incredibly depressed and saddened by Prop 8 passing! This is the New Racism of our time. It is amazing to me that we could be so smart and full of heart and elect---FINALLY---The First African American President...Meanwhile, taking away other people's civil rights and Human Rights!
But this fight is not over. There was a Rally last night in West Hollywood, here in L.A., it was on our local news....I have heard that some people feel that Prop 8 was unconstitutional, anyway, and that they are going to the courts and hopefully Prop 8 will be shot down by our legal system.
I don't know anything about Florida or what recourse they have...
But it is shameful in every respect.

Well said TLP! Well said.

I'm pleased too. Obama was a very good second choice for me and I'm thankful to have someone smart and mild taking over.

I'm happy for all of you and hope this new man will have a good effect on the rest of us too.

Male homosexuality was against the law in the UK until 1967. Here, lesbians were left alone because Queen Victoria, who signed all the papers, refused to believe that female homosexuality could exist. LOL!

One step forward, two steps back...

Yup..it was a bittersweet night. Amendment 2 here in florida had to pass by at least 60% for it to go through that "marriage is between one man and one woman" so I actually was thinking positive at the beginning of the night.

Silly me..I forgot the yaahoos that are my neighbors.

I think most of the thinking, caring people in the world are glad for you and the world.
